Katherine A. Treherne, MD Scholarship

The Katherine A. Treherne, MD Scholarship shall be awarded each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) in accordance with internal Brock VHS scholarship guidelines. The scholarship recipient shall:
I. Be an M3 student accepted into the MD program at Eastern Virginia Medical School, part of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University.
II. Student(s) must meet one or more of the following criteria:
i. Be in good academic standing.
ii. Demonstrate financial need.
iii. Demonstrate interest in serving underserved communities.
iv. Have faced challenging social, economic, educational, or other life circumstances.
III. Preference will be given to students with ties to Hampton Roads or to those who demonstrate
intent to practice medicine in Hampton Roads or Virginia.
IV. Students must submit a 250-word personal statement detailing how they would incorporate Friends of Hampton Roads, Inc. organizational values as a student, and in the future as a practicing or/academic physician. The Office of Financial Aid will present qualified candidate essays to the Foundation for blind review. The Foundation will coordinate with the Donor to select the recipient(s) within seven (7) days of receiving the materials to ensure timely award distribution.
The scholarship is renewable.
